No referral needed.
While referrals are accepted, they are not necessary to work with me. Please note counsellors are also currently unable to provide rebates for Mental Health Care Plans.
To get to know me and my therapeutic style, head on over to the about page. Still have questions? Feel free to reach out or book a consultation call.
No, I also work with men.
While I predominately work with women, you won't find me sending away a man that's willing to talk about his feelings (we love a self aware man over here). I work with many male clients, mainly through Employment Assistance Programs, and sometimes an opposite experience can support just as much as lived experience.
Therapy is not a one size fits all experience, even when it comes to session frequency. Some clients come weekly, others fortnightly or even monthly/bi-monthly. It's usually recommended to attend more often in the beginning of your therapy journey as there's a lot of time spent getting to know each other. You may then choose to spread your sessions out more to allow time to implement the strategies we discuss. We’ll work together to find a rhythm that fits your needs, goals, lifestyle and budget . Therapy should support your life, not overwhelm it.
Do I judge people? Absolutely, I'm human. Do I judge my clients? Absolutely not.
It takes an insane amount of strength and bravery to bear your soul to a stranger (which is basically what your therapist is for the first few sessions), and you will not find me judging anything you allow me the privilege of hearing you say in session.
Therapy is often described as a "safe space" because it's one of the few places you can say the deep/dark things you've been to afraid to say and know that not only does it stay between you and your therapist, they won't make you feel any of the shame or guilt you were expecting.
Sessions run for 50 minutes - enough time to dig into the real stuff, but not too long where you leave feeling completely drained.
Absolutely. You don’t need to have all the answers, let's figure it out together.
For the most part, yes.
Everything discussed during your session remains between you and I. The only exceptions to this rule are if there is an imminent risk of harm to yourself or others, there is a child or young person who is in significant risk of harm, or if I need to comply with legal obligations, such as responding to a subpoena or mandatory reporting requirements. If I am required to disclose information for any of the above reasons, I will discuss this with you prior to doing so where reasonably possible.
Furthermore, if your treatment plan is discussed with a supervisor, no identifying details are provided to protect your privacy.
It's your discretion who you choose to share your therapy journey with, but I will always maintain your confidentiality. It can be unsettling to see your therapist in the wild, but rest assured I will not break your privacy by interacting with you. If you choose to engage with me, that's totally okay, just know I will keep the conversation pretty neutral and surface level.
Unfortunately, yes - this is a really common part of the therapy journey.
Facing your stuff can be confronting and can bring out a tidal wave of emotions, especially if you’ve been pushing everything down for a while. But that discomfort is a sign that you’re doing the work and making progress.
That’s totally okay - and honestly, a really common experience for anyone starting their therapy journey. A strong client-therapist fit matters - it's actually the most influential factor in positive therapeutic outcomes.
You deserve to find your perfect match, and if that's not me that's okay - we can discuss what it is you're looking for and I'll happily refer you to someone who better suits your style.
I aim to reply quickly, however sometimes that's not always possible. You can expect a response within 24 hours, not including weekends.
